#CoachHG Collection 2: "Positivity"

The cup is half full, not half empty. People with Positivity talent themes naturally look at the positive side – where it is half full. But there are many types of ‘HALF FULL’s:

  1. One’s personal life
  2. Other individuals
  3. One’s community
  4. Other communities

Level 1: I want to be HAPPY

This person with Positivity talent is contented just being optimistic, hopeful, fun-loving. There is a Chinese phrase 自嗨 that best describes this person – just to make myself high in spirit. He/ she finds ways to make everything more exciting and more lively. Some cynics may reject his/ her energy, but he/ she is rarely dragged down. Somehow he/ she can’t quite escape his/ her conviction that it is good to be alive, that work can be fun, and that no matter the setback, one must never lose one’s sense of humor. His/ her favourite song is “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.

Level 2: I want others to be HAPPY

This person with Positivity talent is generous with praise, quick to smile, and always lighthearted. People want to be around him/ her. Some find their world drab with repetition, or worse, heavy with pressure but this person seems to find a way to lighten their spirit. His/ her favourite song is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.

Level 3: I want my community to be HAPPY This person with Positivity talent makes his/ her community look better because his/ her enthusiasm is contagious. On one hand, he/ she celebrates every achievement with the community. On the other hand, when the spirit of depression is hovering in the community, he/ she can find opportunities to uplift the spirit of individuals and eventually, the whole community.

Level 4: I want other communities to be HAPPY

This person with Positivity talent avails himself/ herself to help communities that are facing crisis. He/ she is ever-ready to lift and lighten emotional environments in ‘broken communities’ or ‘disaster zones’. But this person does not sit on the sidelines and simply hope that these good things will happen. He/ she gets in the middle of a community facing pain and stimulates people to strive for the best ahead. As a result, people became more cheerful, productive and hopeful because of him/ her. His/ her genius is found in the impact that he/ she has on groups and individuals. Simply stated, everyone gets better if he/ she is nearby and interacting with them.
Reflection (if Positivity is your dominant talent theme)

  1. Which level do you usually utilise your Positivity talent?
  2. What are some things you have done well at this level? How can you do more?
  3. Assuming you are now at the next level, imagine the new joy you are experiencing at this higher level. What differences have you made (in terms of thinking, feeling or behaviour) to grow to this level?
  4. What are some small steps you are ready to take?
